This proposal for the remodeling of an existing building and its new annex is founded on the following principles:

   1. A modernist building will be remodeled.

It is our interest to recognize the architectural value of buildings product of modern paradigmatic practices in our island. Because of this, we consider that our first task within the project is to programmatically activate the existing building while preserving its principal architectural features with minimal and punctual interventions.

   2. Parking areas will be included without interfering with function nor the urban character of the structures.

   3. The new structure establishes the reinterpretation of the existing building's modern language without recurring to mimesis.

The new annex is expressed as a structure with little articulation that does not seek to compete with the existing one, it seeks to complement it.

   4. The new and old structures seek to recognize the potential of exposed concrete as a principal theme for tectonics and terminations.
